Over the past 139 years with the assistance of over 400 volunteers Prescott Frontier Days Inc.® – The World’s Oldest Rodeo® has built their foundation on WE RODEO…WE GIVE. With a commitment to being a steward for the preservation of the past, and promoter of the future of our world renowned historical facility.

Every year we rely on the hard work and collaboration of 15+ volunteer committees, and our Jr. Ambassador program to produce one of Arizona’s largest and oldest events. Thank you to all who have played a cornerstone role in WE RODEO… WE GIVE!

There are over 15 different volunteer areas that make our 7 day, 8 performance rodeo happen. Each area is led by a dedicated group of member chairmen volunteers whose dedication and commitment to the success of each day is the pride of The World’s Oldest Rodeo®.

Count the Ways to Volunteer

Security

Maintain a visible presence at all entries and gates to make sure only ticketed and authorized individuals are entering. Survey grandstands, vendor, and contestant areas during events to ensure safety of guests & competitors.

Exceptional Champs

SINGLE DAY EVENT: Tuesday, June 30th

Cultivate a positive and wholesome experience for participants. Engaging and supporting in sample hands-on rodeo events like roping, stick horse barrel racing, petting a horse, participant riding a “bucking barrel”, and other various events. Experience with individuals with special needs is not required but encouraged.

Animal Health

Communicate with stock contractors to provide safe pens, water, shade for rodeo livestock. Coordinate with on-call rodeo veterinarians to ensure that any sick or injured livestock is cared for. Experience with livestock (specifically horses & cattle) is preferred.

Beverage Distribution*

Must be over the age 21.

Communicate and coordinate with all areas selling beverages to ensure product is distributed to each designated area during rodeo performances during the week.

Sponsor Lounge

Greet sponsors as they come into the lounge, collect sponsor’s tickets at the door, check IDs, check wristbands, and assist in answering basic rodeo questions. May involve potential cleanup post-rodeo to prepare for the next performance.

Parade

SINGLE DAY EVENT: Saturday, July 4th – Morning

Communicate with parade chair and fellow volunteers to make sure all parade participants have information on position before parade day and are checked in, lined up, and ready when the parade starts.

Program Sales

During the rodeo performance, arrange and assist in the sale of programs within the grandstands and surrounding areas. This is a good area for any interested youth volunteers and/or youth group.

Rodeo Hospitality - Serve*

Must be over 21.

Serve low cost meals & beverage for volunteers and competitors during each performance giving them a place to relax and socialize during breaks.

Rodeo Hospitality - Prep*

Must be over 21.

Food preparation, stocking, preparing the hospitality room prior to each performance

Usher

Know the location of all seating areas and help guide guests to their seats within the grandstands and surrounding areas while answering basic questions.

Ticket Taker

The second face that rodeo fans see as they are welcomed to our rodeo. This position greets guests at the gates, scans rodeo tickets using a smartphone, and assists with answering basic event questions.

Parking

The first face that rodeo fans see as they arrive at the World’s Oldest Rodeo. This position guides vehicles to parking areas while collaborating as a team to collect parking admission, and directing vehicles to pre-determined areas while ensuring they safely and efficiently park prior to the rodeo.

Cowboy Country

HOURS: prior to rodeo performance

Greet each incoming contestant with truck and trailer, this position is the first impression they have of the World’s Oldest Rodeo. Ensuring each contestant receives a parking pass, welcome baggie (if applicable) and guide each contestant’s “rig” to safely & efficiently park in “Cowboy Country” area in a timely manner.

Off Season Events

Throughout the year Prescott Frontier Days Inc. serves as a steward for the future of th western spirit through community outreach. This can be seen through a handful of off season events hosted on the grounds, in which you can get a small sample of what volunteering at the World’s Oldest Rodeo might entail.
